I want to figure out why people in some zombie movies such as resident evil 2 have machine guns with like 60 rounds yet only kill 10 when if they shot every zombie in the head they could kill at least 50

theres also penetration depending on the amount of decay you can put a round through at least 3 or4

A .50 would be nice for a camp, but no way in hell would I carry one of those for miles running away. I'd like to be able to say that I have the strength, but I don't. I think a .22 or a .223 would work well, maby a .223 with some sort of hyper-velosity would go through more then just one too.

still semi- auto weopons are better more accurate and conserve ammunition plus even if one round went through - zombies if not in a critical spot they will still continue same speed you would probably not want a round to go through them so if it hit em at least it would slow them down because of all that kinetic energy its impossible for them to not slow down

I want to figure out why people in some zombie movies such as resident evil 2 have machine guns with like 60 rounds yet only kill 10 when if they shot every zombie in the head they could kill at least 50 I figure the answers to those questions are pretty simple. As for movies, all the excessive gunfire is needed to keep the excitement up, and to provide a more chaotic feel to the film. It would get old pretty fast if the protagonist stopped running, set his selector switch to single, and took aim for each shot he fired. Likewise, most people don't have the patience to do that in games either. And even if that were possible, it would make the game far too easy. With regards to a realistic situation, of course you would want to conserve ammo. However, when your heart rate is up and so is your adrenaline level, it would be impossible to hold the gun perfectly still. You would still have to wait for the target to near, and then you would be vulnerable to any additional targets. A skilled marksman could easily drop several targets with headshots if they were equipped with a weapon they were proficient with, but it's not practical to expect the same results from everybody. Especially when the weapon in question is a "machine gun", which I have to assume refers to subs. Due to the shorter barrels, they aren't even built for accuracy. When clearing a building, or defending an enclosed area you would probably want to stick with automatic fire. The frantic nature of the combat wouldn't allow you to take aim before each shot, and you probably wouldn't even have time to shoulder your weapon before firing.

Honestly i do have the strength given the fact that im a firefighter and the people in my local arnt light

Typically they are movies and forgot the real damage a Machine gun do. Mostly however most of the bulletins in the machine gun do hit the zombies but the fact that they don't all damage the brain, seem as if they wouldn't do anything at all. Zombies are very difficult to kill when you are not aiming for their head. True Machine guns can sometimes tear apart a body but you'd still have problems with the head rolling down and trying to bite you. But AGAIN movies are movies and will not ever be 100% accurate.

While I still agree that you should go for headshots, wouldn't body shots STILL incapacitate the target? They wouldn't be able to do much if you incapacitated them. True, they could still bite you in the ankle and whatnot if you shot out their kneecaps, but they are still just human. A body shot that hit the heart or spine would still kill them I would have to assume.

dude the only way to disable a zed head is to shoot them in the brain a chest shot may make them fall down but they would immediatly start to get back up they may have the body of a human but thats the only thing we share they feel no pain and never get tired a chest shot would would do no real damage to it because their hearts dont even function they dont have a need to pump blood around their bodies
